    KETTLESTONE VILLAGE BOULES COMPETITION

The forecast was being monitored regularly and gave us a few moments of dread, but all seemed to be propitious for the Kettlestone Village Boules Competition.  In previous years the event had been held on the August Bank Holiday Sunday – how glad we were that we decided to put it back to early September!

Pam Whitehead and Martyn Proffitt, our umpires, organised us tactfully and patiently, and we had lots of spectators, many of whom contributed to our BQQ lunch.  The home-made lemon drink went down well, as did beer and wine, and the burgers and sausages were cooked to perfection. It was a most enjoyable day, the village showing us what a great community we live in, and the weather smiling on us.  Thanks to one and all who came to support us, took part, contributed to the feast, and generally helped to make what was a special village event.
